The Dolen Teifi Community Transport group was created by volunteers from the enterprise group Llandysul and Pont-Tyweli Ymlaen Cyf (LPY). Our original goal was to provide sustainable, accessible transport to the people who live in Llandysul and its surrounding areas. However, such has been the demand for accessible vehicles for community use in other areas we work in, that our group now provides transport in communities throughout Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. The expansion has meant that we now employ three people. Dolen Teifi is still part of Llandysul a Phont-Tyweli Ymlaen Cyf which is run by a volunteer board of directors.
Under the umbrella of LPY, Dolen Teifi has expanded its operations to meet the transport needs of many other communities in Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire and currently operates 8 fully accessible minibuses, 2 wheelchair accessible cars, 1 MPV electric accessible car with another 3 MPV electric accessible cars that will be operating by the end of 2020 all located within the communities they serve. Dolen Teifi through LPY, over the years has been successful in securing grants from different sources e.g. Welsh Government, Big Lottery and Brechfa Forest Wind Farm which has enabled the business to expand and address the needs of the community.”
The vehicles are available for groups, self-drive, individuals and organisations to provide access to essential community services such as trips out, social activities, doctors, dentists, hospital appointments and days out.
